Music video reflection
Reflection
Whilst filming my music video I learnt that I needed to re-film the lip-syncing parts a number of times to get them in time. What was also difficult was that my performer was not as familiar with the lyrics of the song as I was so it took longer to film. As well as this I could have used a wider variation of shots.
Improvements:
-In one shot where the performer was in the back of the car lip-syncing a lyric, he had red eyes so I should have fe-filmed this.
-Although I liked the idea of filming in a super market, in the video it looked quite messy and took the attention away from the performer.
-I didn't have a completely clear narrative so I could have focused on this to make the video more interesting.
-At the beginning of the video, the performer claps but if I had edited it better the clap would have been on the beat of the music which would have been more effective
-Perhaps I could have included shots that didn’t include the performer to break up the video more
-I could have focused on mise-en-scene more as my locations were not aspirational, using luxury locations would have worked well in my video because they could have added to the comical effect by being overly posh
Strengths:
-However I don't think any of my shots were too long and I liked how most of the shots changed in time with the music.
-I aimed to include humorous elements and achieved this with the use of song and choice of shots, the performer added to this.
-The time lapse of the fridge magnets at the beginning of the video fitted with the jokey theme and also added a sense of naivety which worked well, however they letters weren’t completely clear to read so i added text over the top of the shot
