1. How do the representations in the music videos chosen by the producers promote the artist?
The music video promotes the artist as someone who doesn’t rely on materialistic items to show happiness, due to the setting being a run down city. The use of graffiti also promotes the artist as creative and a risk taker.

2. How do the music videos reflect individuals or social, cultural and historical issues and events?
The video is about a teenage boy who shows an interest in a girl he sees outside his window, therefore this focuses on the social act of relationships.

3. How are the music videos influenced by the concept of intertextuality?

There are a number of films that involve the idea of teenagers being caught by the police whilst doing graffiti, for example ‘American Graffiti’. The music video could have been influenced  by this film, especially in shot of the girl spray painting on a wall and the flashing lights of the police car appear and she runs away.

4.What viewpoints/representations and messages and values does the media language of the music video highlight about society and how realistic do you think these representations are?
The media language represents innocent teenage love in a nostalgic way, it is quite realistic in society due to the non-desirable settings and mise-en-scene which makes the idea more understandable.

6.Have stereotypes been used in a positive or negative manner (or both) how and why?
Stereotypes have been used in a positive way as the producers have used two ordinary looking actors which again is more relatable for the audience.
7. When placed in a global context do you think that the music videos offer representations that are under or over represented in society. why do you think this?
I think the context of the music is over represented in society as teenage love between male and female does not necessarily bring up any controversial ideas. there is no powerful societal message or statement in the video, it has been created solely for nostalgic and heart warming purposes.
8.How have the social and cultural contexts affected the representations on offer in the music video?  The social contexts in this music video cause the audience to
perceive teenage relationships as innocent, care free yet romantic. the relationship in this video is represented in this way when we see the boy watching the girl through the window. also when we see the boys imagination of him with the girl. the cultural contexts are shown through the characters reactions and behaviours which are shaped by the cultural norms. this video reverses the cultural stereotype that females are impressed by males talents because the boy is impressed by the girls rebellious spray painting.
9. How is the audience positioned to respond and interpret the representations/messages and values/ideologies that the music video offers the audience? The audience is positioned to respond the messages in the music video from an adults perspective of teenage innocence and romance, this is therefore nostalgic which was the artists aim.
10. How has the music videos version of reality been constructed through the techniques of re-representations? On behalf of the characters in the music video, reality has been constructed to seem imperfect which is true. the grungy setting of the music is a good re representation of a city because in reality, a city will be unclean and dark. also, the casting of the actors depicts reality well as they look ordinary.
